"box pleat" / heavy silk
Heavy handwoven silk toile, painstakingly pleated by hand to create a three dimensional rigorous horizontal “box” pleat, favoured by fashion icons such as Christian Dior or Cristobal Balenciaga.
Three metres of fabric are required to produce a single metre.
Shown here is a soft platinum shade named “Lucky star”.
Available to order in lengths of up to ten metres long and knit backed for applications such as furniture panels, walling or cushions. It can be used along its plain version (# 309 col. Lucky star) to great effect.
This pleat is part of a variety of designs available in my deluxe collection, and made to order in more than thirty shades. Lighter silks can also be used for this work in the same "Lucky star"colourway or many others.
